A Mayfield man was sentenced on Monday on charges related to a 2015 murder and arson investigation.

According to the Calloway County Circuit Court Clerk, Pascasio Pacheco received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Pacheco pleaded guilty on December 13 to four counts of murder, along with burglary, arson, tampering with physical evidence and assault charges. The plea allowed him to avoid a jury trial.

When Pacheco initially plead not guilty in January of 2016, prosecutors indicated they would seek the death penalty in the case.

Pacheco was accused of killing his aunt and uncle, Marisol Hernandez and Bulmaro Arellano, and their two children. Police say Pacheco shot and killed the couple, then set fire to their home on Highway 121 in Murray. The two children died of smoke inhalation.
