CARLISLE COUNTY, KY - Kentucky State Police are investigating the drowning of a Paducah man on the middle Mississippi River early Tuesday morning.
Police say 48-year-old Jeffrey L. Casey of Paducah was attempting to transfer from one barge to another by rope. He slipped on the frost covered rope, falling into the river. The current swept him underneath a barge and when he resurfaced a few minutes later, he was pulled from the water.
The Carlisle County Coroner pronounced Mr. Casey dead at the scene. The investigation continues by Detective Brett Miller.
