The contractor working on demolition of the Old Ledbetter Bridge near Paducah has removed all of the first span's debris from the river.
The area has been worked thoroughly and the contractor is confident that all steel dropped into the river during Tuesday’s detonation has been cleared.
The contractor will now begin partially cutting the truss on the Livingston County side of the Tennessee River at key locations. Those cuts are designed to weaken the truss in preparation for round two of the controlled explosions to bring down the 83-year-old bridge.
The next detonation is now planned for 8:00 am, Wednesday, September 24.
