Pittman to Stand Trial on Murder Charge

BENTON, KY - A western Kentucky woman is set to stand trial on a charge of murder stemming from a fatal wreck in 2011 in Marshall County.
The Paducah Sun reported that despite prosecutors' attempts to reach a plea agreement, jury selection for 19-year-old Tiffany Pittman is scheduled for Tuesday in Marshall Circuit Court in Benton.
Pittman is charged with murder, first-degree assault and first-offense DUI after an Aug. 15, 2011, crash along U.S. 68 in Marshall County that killed 45-year-old Stephen J. "Jimmy" Harper.
Police say Pittman was intoxicated and fighting with her intoxicated passenger when she crashed her Pontiac Grand Prix into Harper's Chevy S-10 pickup truck that evening at about 60 to 65 mph.
