Police Charge Juvenile In Calloway Bomb Threat

MURRAY, KY - Kentucky State Police have charged a juvenile in reference to a bomb threat that occurred at Calloway County High School Monday.

On Monday at approximately 12:55 pm, the KSP post 1 Mayfield was contacted by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a bomb threat at Calloway County High School.  A threat indicating that there was a bomb in the school had been discovered in a girl’s bathroom.

Emergency personnel from several agencies responded to the scene.  Students were evacuated from the high school and the middle school was locked down.  A search of the school was conducted by officers and a canine from the KSP Special Operations Section.  No explosives or explosive devices were located.  Students were allowed to return to their classes at approximately 2:40 p.m.

As a result of on-scene investigation, police charged the juvenile with one count of Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree (Class C Felony). The juvenile was lodged in the McCracken County Regiona lJuvenile Detention Center in Paducah.

The Calloway County Sherriff’s Office, Calloway County Fire-Rescue, Murray Police Department, and Murray State Public Safety assisted at the scene.
