Police Investigate Fatal Carlisle Shooting
By WestKyStar Staff
ARLINGTON, KY - An Arlington man is dead and a woman is injured following an early morning shooting Monday in Carlisle County.

According to Kentucky State Police, 43-year-old Monica Muscovalley, of Arlington, was found in her backyard with multiple gunshot wounds to her legs. Her husband, 46-year-old Mark Muscovalley, was found dead next to her from an apparent gunshot wound. According to police, a preliminary investigation found that Mark Muscovalley broke into the house and shot his wife before killing himself.

Hickman County Sheriff Mark Green says an emergency protective order was issued against Mark Muscovalley more than a month ago on behalf of his wife, but the order was dismissed.

Carlisle County Coroner Steve Freeman said the front and back door to the house were broken, and the investigation concluded that Mark Muscovalley chased Monica Muscovalley around the home and the front yard shortly after midnight on Monday morning. Soon after that neighbors reported hearing gunshots. Freeman said several reports were made to emergency responders.

According to Freeman, three shell casings were located near where Monica Muscovalley was found. She was air-lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of life threatening injuries.
