Kentucky State Police are investigating a suspicious package left at a local business on Wednesday. On Wednesday at 5:20 pm, state police received a call about a suspicious package in front of the United States Marine Corps Recruiting Office on Chestnut Street in Murray.

Kentucky State Police and Murray Police Department officers secured the area while the KSP Hazardous Device Unit examined the package and its contents. According to KSP, political propaganda and other similar items about recent government actions were found inside the package.

The package and its contents were collected to undergo further examination by Kentucky State Police. Traffic disruption was minimal and easily rerouted. As a precautionary measure, only one business was asked to close early due to its close proximity to the package. Other businesses were already closed or were asked to keep customers inside.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police as 270-856-3721.
