Post 236 to Host District 1 Legion Meeting Sunday

CALVERT CITY, KY - For the fifth time, William A. Doyle Post 236 of the American Legion will host the quarterly District 1 meeting Sunday.Officers and members from 10 western Kentucky Legion posts will gather to discuss business and to dedicate a new addition to the Post 236 building, a wing added to house the Ladies Auxiliary. Registration will be at noon. Lunch will be at 1 pm.
The dedication ceremony for the recently completed addition will be at 2 pm. Legion and local dignitaries invited to the ceremony include State Auxiliary President Jane McKnight and first Vice President Pat Reynolds; Kentucky Rep. Will Coursey; county commissioner Misti Drew; District Judge Jack Telle; former county commissioner, parks commissioner and sheriff Jerry English; and Marshall County Judge-Executive Mike Miller, a Post 236 member. Joe Flynn, Kentucky Legion commander, is expected to attend.
The newly formed Auxiliary Color Guard commanded by Linda Armiger will present the National Colors. Members include Marilyn Chandler, Susie Vasseur and Robbie Edmonds. The Post 236 Honor Guard commanded by TomVasseur will also participate with a rifle salute. Following the dedication the Legionnaires and Auxiliary will have their business meetings.
There will be raffles, silent auctions and door prizes with proceeds going towards the District scholarship fund. Post 236 is located at 25 Little John Lane, off KY 95 between Calvert City and North Marshall Middle School.
