MAYFIELD, KY - The Purchase Player’s final production of the 2012 season, "A Christmas Story" will be presented this weekend at the Community Performing Arts Center in Mayfield.

Online ticket sales are open to the general public at www.purchaseplayers.com. This classic tale will be staged at the Community Performing Arts Center in Mayfield on November 9 - 11 and 16 - 18; Friday and Saturday nights at 7 pm, and Sunday afternoons at 2 pm. 

Humorist's Jean Sheperd's memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940's follows 9-year old Ralphie Parker in his quest to find a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt's Department Store.  The consistent reponse, "You'll shoot your eye out!!" All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here including Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the leg lamp; and more.
