Rep. Rudy Talks 'Careers' with Ballard 4th Graders

LaCENTER, KY - Fourth-graders at Ballard County Elementary School have been learning about careers, and sessions have featured several local speakers.

State Rep. Steven Rudy is shown here talking to a group in the BCES library. Other scheduled speakers for the month were school Superintendent Casey Allen; Sheriff Todd Cooper, Unlimited Graphics owner Gary Damron, 4-H Extension Service Agent Paula Jerrell, County Clerk Lynn Lane, WPSD-TV anchor Mike Mallory and Community Education Director Julie Thomas.

  The article has the byline "By Julie Thomas." She is not employed by Rudy or WKS, she is an employee of Ballard County Schools (and a darn good one). No place did I see that Rudy was talking about legislating as a profession; he was at least as likely to be talking about the family business. Heck, Mike Mallory spoke and he doesn't have a real job . . .

  We did not receive a press release from Rep. Rudy, Ballard County Schools shared this photo and information with us. David is right, Steve helps his mom, dad, and brother run Rudy's Farm Center in Kevil when the legislature is not in session.

  Does this mean that Rep Rudy is advocating that being an elected official is a "career"? Oh no! After all the Republicans that have talked about the evils of "career politicians" I think Rep Rudy should rethink this press release!
