Road Work Delayed Due to Unknown Driver
By WestKyStar Staff
NICHOLS,KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is requesting the assistance of the public in locating the driver of a vehicle that disregarded Road Closed signs and moved a barricade to drive through freshly poured concrete on KY 3061 in Hickman County sometime Wednesday.

The road was scheduled to reopen Wednesday east of the Nichols community, following extended closures for replacement of several cross drains. Due to damage to the uncured concrete, the roadway will now have to be jack-hammered and new concrete poured. (Editor's Note: The road re-opened Friday, but the driver has not been identified)

As a reminder, the penalty for disregarding or moving a traffic control device is about $150 per sign or barricade. Plus, the motorists can be held responsible for the cost of replacing the concrete. Anyone with information on the vehicle that drove through the fresh concrete on KY 3061 today should contact the Kentucky State Police or the Hickman County Sheriff's Office.

This work zone on KY 3061between Brush Creek Road and the KY 307 Intersection.

Information provided by Keith Todd of the Kentucky Transportation Department.
