The Murray Rotary Club has geared up today with the Fulton, Mayfield and Paducah clubs to collect and deliver relief items to the victims of the devastating tornado in Moore, Oklahoma.

"Operation Rotary Relief" will be in full swing in Murray again today. Donations can be dropped off at Pagliai's Restaurant, 970 Chestnut Street, between 8:00 am - 9:00 pm.

In Paducah, bring bottled water and cash donations only between 10:00 am - 1:00 pm today to Parking Lot C of the Carson Center, 100 Kentucky Avenue.

In Mayfield, items can be brought to FNB Bank, 101 East Broadway today until 4:00 pm.

In Fulton/South Fulton, bring items to The Keg Restaurant, 444 Lake Street in Fulton, or First State Bank, 605 Broadway in South Fulton. Both locations will accept items through 1:00 pm today.

Operation Rotary Relief hopes to collect enough basic relief items and supplies to fill a full-size school bus, which will hit the road on Friday at 4:00 am.

Relief items requested include: cash, bottled water, work gloves, hand sanitizer, blue jeans, belts, short sleeve shirts, socks, shoes(work style), garbage bags, snacks, (peanut butter crackers, granola bars, protein bars, hard candy), first aid supplies (band aids, aspirins, sun screen, etc.), hats and caps.

"Our goal is to help those in need with basic necessities," said Rotarian and relief effort coordinator, Keith Travis. "Our club has been preparing in advance to respond quickly after a disaster occurs. We know our community and region show an unbelievable giving spirit for our fellow Americans at this tragic time. It's our privilege as Rotarians to serve as a conduit to bring relief to those in Moore, Oklahoma."

The school bus is donated by Taylor Bus Company, and driven by Rotarians and other volunteers.

"We learned a great deal from our community's experience helping Hurricane Sandy victims last year," said Rotary President, Tab Brockman. "A new goal was to respond as quickly as possible. Our plan is to have the supplies in Oklahoma within 96 hours after Monday's events. We know our communities and region are ready to respond and as Rotarians we are ready to serve in this important relief mission."

Travis said that the area Rotary Clubs are working with clubs in the Oklahoma City area to receive the supplies and make sure they are distributed where they are most needed.
