Schedule for Today's Fancy Farm Picnic

FANCY FARM, KY - A number of political legends will be present for this year's Fancy Farm Picnic, even though heavyweights Governor Beshear and Senator Rand Paul will not attend.
Kentucky US Senator Mitch McConnell will be there, as will Kentucky US Representative Ed Whitfield, whose tenure in the house is being challenged by Democrat Charles Hatchett. Also appearing, Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives, Greg Stumbo, and Kentucky House Minority Leader Jeff Hoover.
The political speaking will be emceed by Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer.
The picnic, now in its 132nd year, serves as the unofficial kickoff of the general election season in Kentucky and has been an annual rite for generations of politicians. In some years, the event has drawn more than 10,000 people.
Here is the official itinerary for this weekend's 132nd Annual Fancy Farm Picnic:
8 am Bar-b-que by the pound goes on sale. Pork and mutton will be available for purchase.
10 am Official starting time of picnic. Bingo, games, crafts, music and food for all.
11 am Home-cooked meal served continuously until 8 pm in the air conditioned Knights of Columbus Hall. Meal features: Bar-b-que pork and mutton, fried chicken, fresh sweet corn, lima beans, green beans, purple hull peas, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, potato salad, slaw, homemade pies and cakes. $12 for adults $5 for children.
10:30 am-1:30 pm Mid-day music by “Neihoff Brothers”
1:30 pm Pioneer Awards: Presentation at political stand.
