Widespread thunderstorms are in the forecast beginning later this afternoon. Storms could be more pronounced in southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, according to discussions on the weather service's webpage.
Hazards also include a possibility for isolated wind gusts to reach sixty miles per hour.
There is a limited possibility that hail could develop, and the chance of a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
Heavy rain will be a component for most of the area, with an inch or more anticipated before winding down Friday morning.
