Graves County High School will send six current juniors to the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program this summer to study, to interact with other outstanding 2015-16 high school seniors, and to experience life on a college or university campus for several weeks.

“I think this a great opportunity,” said Connor McKee. “One of the main advantages of this opportunity is that this program pays tuition to any public college or university in the state and this experience will help us prepare for college.” McKee belongs to Graves High’s Business/Information Technology Academy and plans to major in engineering.

Austin Stephens, a member of the Math/Science/Engineering Academy at GCHS, plans to study chemical engineering in college. Abby Forsythe of MSE, who wants to major in math; Audrie Lamb of the Fine Arts Academy, who plans to study public relations and business administration; Melissa LaClair of MSE, who hasn’t decided yet on a college major; and Meredith Fickey of MSE who hopes to enter the medical field.

“We’re very proud of these students for this success,” said GCHS principal Matthew Madding. “We also are confident they will represent Graves County High School and the entire school district well in this program and in all their endeavors because they are excellent young people.”
