Smithland Man Arrested for Assaulting Woman

A Smithland man faces an assault charge, after police say his victim needed surgery to repair her injuries.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, deputies arrested 33-year-old Joshua Leach, of Smithland Wednesday on a charge of 2nd degree assault. Police said the arrest is the result of an investigation into an assault that happened Tuesday.

The investigation reportedly revealed that Leach assaulted his girlfriend's sister, who needed emergency surgery to repair facial injuries.

Leach was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Jail.
