Stabbing Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Charged with Murder

PRINCETON, KY - One man is dead and another is behind bars after a stabbing Saturday in Caldwell County.

According to the Princeton Police Department, officers responded late Saturday night to a reported stabbing at the Elks Lodge located at 1050 South Jefferson Street in Princeton. Police arrived at the scene and found the victim, 50-year-old William Grant Beckner, of Archie Ortt Road, lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds.

Beckner was transported to Caldwell County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told officers that Beckner was involved in an altercation inside the club with the suspect, 54-year-old Joseph W. Anderson of Princeton. The altercation then continued outside where it escalated to a fist fight.

During the course of the fight, police say Beckner was stabbed multiple times. Anderson fled the scene and was later located in Cadiz. He was taken into custody and charged with murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for today at the medical examiner’s office in Madisonville.
