Stabbing Leaves Mayfield Man Facing Assault Charge

MAYFIELD - A stabbing in Mayfield Saturday night left one person injured and another facing charges.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, officers were called to the Plaza Apartments for a fight in progress involving a knife. The caller told officers that 20-year-old Marty Dylan Watkins had stabbed Zachary Osborne, and then fled in a gray SUV.

Officers arrived on scene, and made contact with Osborne, who was bleeding from the side. Mayfield Fire & EMS arrived on scene and transported Osborne to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment. He was later released.

While responding officers were gathering statements from witnesses, another officer spotted a gray SUV matching the description of the getaway car. The officer made a traffic stop, and found Watkins in the passenger seat.

Watkins was placed under arrest, and taken to the Graves County Jail. He was charged with 2nd degree assault.
