Kentucky State Police arrested a local police officer Thursday on a warrant.

The warrant was issued for James Blakeney in McCracken County on August 10 for failure to pay or appear. Troopers say the original charges were filed by the Paducah Police Department in February and included third degree forgery and impersonating a peace officer.

At the time of the original offenses, Blakeney was not employed as a police officer. But at the time of his arrest by state police, Blakeney was employed as a police officer for the City of Hickman.

Blakeney was taken into custody in Mayfield Thursday and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
