A Benton man was arrested Thursday after police say he fired a gun while a Department of Community Based Services worker was conducting a home visit.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers responded shortly before 11 a.m. to a call that shots had been fired in Marshall County. The preliminary investigation showed that Alexia Pritchett, a DCBS worker, was conducting a home visit on Abraham Road, when 51-year-old James Butler, began firing shots. Police said Pritchett was able to escape without injury.

Troopers responded to Abraham Road, where they located and arrested Butler. He was charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment and was booked into the Marshall County Jail.
