A Ballard County family has been reunited with their stolen bulldog puppy.

April Ford posted on the "Bring Louie Home" Facebook page Wednesday afternoon that the family pet was home, and waiting for the children to get home from school.

Ford was contacted by someone in Cairo, IL, who said she might have her dog, after seeing it wandering around. After discussing some of Louie's features and a getting photo, Ford said she knew it was her family pet, so they drove to Cairo. When she called him, Louie came running.

Ford and her husband took Louie to the vet for a checkup and to get microchipped, then home - just in time to surprise Lauren and Emily as they came home from school. Ford said it was a tearful and chaotic reunion.

Louie was taken February 5 during a break-in at the family's Wickliffe home along with iPads that the children received for Christmas. Louie was a Christmas gift, and he bonded easily with the entire family.

Ford was offering $1,000 cash for his return with "no questions asked."  Ford would not give all of the details, but did say she will be giving the reward to the Cairo woman. The Ballard County Sheriff has a few leads on the Ford family's other stolen items, too.

The Facebook page with photos of Louie had grew over its month-long existence to over 1,600 likes, with many people re-posting April's photos and comments. Some of them offered to help with the reward, too.
