GRAVES COUNTY - An investigation into a stolen trailer led to the arrest of four people on theft and drug charges.

On Thursday, Graves County deputies were dispatched to New Hope Church Road in Northern Graves County after receiving a report of a stolen trailer.

Thursday night, while following up on some leads in the case, Graves County deputies and McCracken County deputies were reportedly able to locate the stolen trailer hidden in a remote area of the Golo community near Stokes Road.

While attempting to arrest the suspects, 49-year-old James T. Dowdy of Graves County fled on foot, but was captured a short time later. He was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies also arrested 32-year-old Michael Scull, and 48-year-old Shawntel Jones, both of Graves County.

The investigation then led deputies to a home in the 1900 block of Kentucky Highway 1124 where 48-year-old Sandy L. Wood was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

At the home, deputies say they found lumber and metal that had been stolen from a home in northern Graves County.

The stolen trailer and materials were returned to the victim.

Dowdy is charged with theft by unlawful taking, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, and possession of methamphetamine. Scull is charged with theft by unlawful taking and possession of methamphetamine. Jones is charged with knowingly receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wood is charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

The investigation is ongoing.
