High school students in western Kentucky are trying to come up with a way to promote Kentucky Lake.
The effort comes at the request of the Kentucky Lake Tourism Bureau, which spent $55,000 on research and found out while about 2 million people visit each year, there's a disconnect between the younger generation and the lake.
Kentucky Lake Marketing Director Elena Blevins says the idea is mutually beneficial for the students, who have a chance at solving a real-world problem, and the tourism board, which gets to hear ideas from the younger generation.
Students from Marshall County High school are scheduled to present their ideas to the tourism board on May 8. Board members hope to make use of the strongest proposals.
