The open house is themed around health topics relating to summer activities. For example, a free dermascan health screening will be offered which allows the user to see sun damage to the skin (note: this is not a skin cancer screening). A diabetes blood draw (no fasting required) will also be offered.
Giveaways at the event include free sunscreen samples and 10-minute chair massages. Visitors to the event may also enter to win a Fitbit Charge.
The center itself will be open for tours and information, and the standard joining fee will be waived during the day. Personal trainers will be available to answer questions about fitness and other topics including the new Personal Fit program that offers personal training and nutrition counseling.
The Center for Health and Wellness has a recently-updated wellness floor with treadmills, elliptical crosstrainers, stationary bikes, rowers, strength equipment and free weights. A gymnasium hosts group fitness classes and kids’ activities, while a five-lane pool is available for lap swimmers, aquatic fitness classes and swim lessons.
At the Center for Health and Wellness, the staff’s mission is to provide quality services and resources that enable the community to attain a healthy lifestyle in all aspects of wellness. Programs include comprehensive lifestyle and fitness assessments; health, nutrition and fitness coaching by professional staff; and a variety of activities designed with members' needs in mind.
