Summit University is about to be born in Graves County.  Dr. Keith Roach is a former faculty member at Mid Continent University.

Roach, along with dozens of other staff members, were let go when the University shuttered its doors over a year ago.  Roach says he and several others who lost their jobs are now going through the process to hopefully launch the University by this January.

"We're looking to develop fund raising opportunities," says Roach.  "We're looking for what we refer to as legacy donors and foundation donors.  Once we receive our 501c3, we feel there will be a number of people that will be ready to participate and donate money to help us get this thing started."

Roach says they are working on all the necessary procedures to be a fully accredited Christian university, and he stresses there is absolutely no affiliation with the former Mid Continent University.  He also said they will be much more transparent than the administration of the former institution apparently was.

He says they will be initially offering four different majors, with plans to expand the amount of majors they will be able to offer.  He says they are working closely with the city of Mayfield and officials with Graves County to make the university a success.

Roach was the chair for the Psychology Department at Mid Continent University.
