A Tennessee man faces a list of charges after police say he drove through a checkpoint and led them on a high-speed chase spanning four counties.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers along with Eddyville police and Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint at KY 93 and KY 293 near Eddyville, when a vehicle drove through the checkpoint without stopping. Police said the vehicle almost struck a trooper and accelerated north on KY 93.

Police pursued the vehicle west on US-62, then onto I-24 east at the 40 mile marker, where the chase reportedly continued at over 100 mph.

Police deployed stop spikes at the 75 mile marker in Christian County, but the suspect avoided them and continued east on I-24. The units were eventually able to catch up to the suspect and slow the vehicle to a safe speed.

Police said the pursuit went through Lyon, Caldwell, Trigg, and Christian counties, for a total of about 50 miles.

The suspect, Victor H. Bonillna of Springfield, TN was apprehended at the 85 mile marker. He was charged with fleeing and evading police, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief,  reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations.

Bonillna was taken to the Caldwell County Jail.
