Traffic Advisory for KY Counties
By Keith Todd, KYTC
WESTERN KENTUCKY - Traffic ADVISORY

A few of our Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 counties to the east have had issues with DRIFTING SNOW as winds have run at 10 mph with gusts to 16.

Union County and Henderson County have trucks out at this hour working on a number of snow drifts that developed tonight. They are also treating a number of traditional trouble spots, mainly on rural secondary highways.

We are asking motorists to AVOID UNNECESSARY TRAVEL OVERNIGHT. If you do feel the need to travel please use extra caution as temperatures down into the teens will also create a potential for slick spots as any remaining moisture on pavement surfaces can re-freeze. Crews have spread ample amounts of salt and calcium chloride on area highways. However, once temps drop below about 20 degrees these chemicals lose their effectiveness.

With a low of 14 degrees in some parts of the region overnight, extra caution is required until temperatures get back close to the freezing mark Sunday morning. Let's all be careful out there.
