A Calloway County man was arrested Friday on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was called to the area of Interstate 24 and Purchase Parkway regarding a vehicle traveling at high speeds. When a deputy found the vehicle near exit 47, it was weaving on the road.

Police say when 32-year-old Axel France of Murray was pulled over, he told the deputy he was playing on his phone. A field sobriety test was given, which indicated France was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

When the vehicle was searched, deputies say a backpack contained a burned spoon, and the console had a needle, cotton swabs, alcohol wipes and a baggie with a white powdery substance inside. France reportedly told deputies the substance was Suboxone.

France was arrested for DUI, careless driving, possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other traffic offenses. He was taken to Marshall County Jail.
