An Owensboro man faces drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop on Saturday.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office says deputies stopped a vehicle with a registration plate that belonged to a different vehicle. Deputies said the driver, 25-year-old Denzel Knight of Owensboro had a handgun under the passenger seat and did not have a permit for the weapon.

Deputies later found marijuana in Knight's left sock, and found two more handguns and ammunition underneath the carpet in the rear compartment of the vehicle.

Deputies said Knight admitted that he had put the plate on his vehicle. They seized the guns and marijuana, and returned the registration plate to the owner.

Knight was booked into the Calloway County Detention Center on charges of improper display of registration plates, no registration plates, no operators-moped license, possession of marijuana, theft of motor vehicle registration plate, and three counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
