A California man was arrested Tuesday after police say a search of his vehicle revealed more than 50 pounds of marijuana.

Kentucky State Police stopped a vehicle on Interstate 24 at around 12:30 pm for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop the trooper saw a small bottle of medical marijuana in plain sight. A search reportedly revealed 53 pounds of marijuana, 200 containers of marijuana oil, and $1,551 in cash.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Joshua Castanenda of Elk Grove, CA was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana – Greater than 5 lbs, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to produce insurance card.

Castanenda was booked into the Caldwell County Detention Canter.
