Trigg County Participates in Drive Sober Campaign
By West Kentucky Star Staff/Trigg County
TRIGG COUNTY - The Trigg County Sheriff's Office has joined a nationwide crackdown on impaired drivers, during the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign from August 16-September 2.

The campaign will involve high-visibility enforcement, high-profile events, and will be supported by national paid advertising in an attempt to curb impaired driving.

"We aggressively watch for drunk drivers year-round, but by joining this effort, we will make our roadways safer during the heavily-traveled Labor Day holiday." said Sheriff Barnes.

During 2018 there were more than 4,700 collisions involving alcohol throughout Kentucky which left more than 2,400 injured and 87 dead.  Labor Day weekend is typically one of the worst times for impaired driving with 63 accidents involving alcohol which left 26 injured.

"We hope the campaign will serve as a reminder that those who choose to drink should never get behind the wheel." said Barnes.  "However, if someone does choose to drive while drunk, we will arrest them.  No warnings, no excuses."
