The first positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Trigg County.

WKDZ reports that Pennyrile District Health Department Director Jim Tolley announced the test result Saturday morning. He said the patient is a 39-year old man who is self-isolated.

Tolley said the health department is conducting contact investigation to provide necessary guidance to others who may have been exposed.

He reminded everyone to continue social distancing, while saying that Governor Andy Beshear's leadership during this time is second to none, and is reducing the number of deaths in Kentucky.

WKDZ says Tolley urged everyone to remember three things: continue social distancing, practice handwashing, and have compassion for everyone involved, whether they are patients, families, health care workers, public health officials, local leaders, or fellow citizens.
