The Labor Day enforcement period began Friday at 6 pm and ends tonight at 11:59 pm.
In the 2013 Labor Day weekend enforcement period, there were a total of eight collisions which resulted in 8 fatalities. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in two of these collisions. Out of the eight collisions, only one was using a seat belt.
The Kentucky State Police will partner with local law enforcement to aggressively patrol Kentucky roadways and set up traffic safety check points in an effort to reduce traffic collisions. National statistics show that every two hours three people are killed in alcohol related traffic crash. The Kentucky State Police ask that each motorist do his/her part to ensure the safety of everyone traveling our roadways.
