By WestKyStar Staff
TRIGG COUNTY, KY - A Mississippi truck driver was killed early Saturday morning after he lost control of his semi at mile marker 62 on Interstate 24 near Cadiz.

Just after 4 am, 60-year-old James Davis of Laurel, MS, was traveling eastbound on I-24 pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with lumber, when his truck went into the emergency strip and overcorrected, crossed both eastbound lanes and went through the median. His cab then overturned and came to rest in the left lane on the opposite side of the highway. The cab of Davis' truck was then struck by a westbound car driven by 67-year-old Charles Carr of Naples, FL.

The Trigg County coroner pronounced Davis dead at the scene. Carr was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for his injuries. It is unknown at this time if either driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
