Two Arrested After Foot Chase in LaCenter

LACENTER - A man and woman were arrested Saturday after a foot pursuit in LaCenter.

The Ballard County Sheriff's Office says deputies saw 25-year-old Destiny Carter and 36-year-old James Ratliff walking out of a home on East 2nd Street. Carter was believed to have a warrant for her arrest out of McCracken County. 

Deputies said Ratliff reportedly had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on him. Deputies said he tried to grab the drugs from the deputy and fled. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.  

Ratliff was charged with second degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and first degree possession of a controlled substance.

Carter is charged with a failure to appear warrant.
