Two Brief Stoppages Wednesday at Calvert City Exit
By West Kentucky Star Staff
CALVERT CITY, KY - A contractor plans two brief traffic interruptions within the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange on Wednesday.

The first will be for southbound traffic on the Purchase Parkway just south of the I-24 Overpass. Traffic from US 62 at Calvert City seeking to merge onto southbound Purchase Parkway will be stopped for about 10-15 minutes to allow placement of an overhead sign truss. This work will take place sometime between 10 am and 2 pm.

The second traffic interruption will be Wednesday night about 9:30 pm, and will affect eastbound traffic on Interstate 24 within the Calvert City work zone. Police will assist with a rolling road block starting near Exit 16, which will create a break in traffic so a contractor can place an overhead sign truss near the 24 mile marker. If all goes well, there should be only a brief halt in traffic.

Drivers who plan to travel through this work zone should note these brief traffic interruptions and use appropriate caution.

As a reminder, this work zone includes a 55 mile per hour speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines for citations.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on the $37.8 million interchange reconstruction project, which is about 85% complete. Work is supposed to be completed by July 1.
