Two Graves County residents face drug and other charges following a traffic stop Tuesday.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, detectives with the drug unit had followed a vehicle, driven by 40-year-old Susan Gossum of Mayfield, to a gas station on US Highway 45.

Based on information received that Gossum's passenger, 34-year-old Bradley Stafford of Mayfield, was in possession of a stolen handgun, detectives got both occupants out of the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search of the vehicle, detectives found illegal narcotics in Stafford's backpack. They found heroin, meth, mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash.

When detectives searched Stafford's residence, they located the handgun in his bedroom. Detectives also found an amount of prescription medication not in proper containers in the bedroom.

Stafford was arrested on several drug charges, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Gossum was arrested on several traffic charges, and both were booked into the Graves County Jail.
