Deputies said Tonya Tyler was driving northbound when she lost control of her car due to excessive speed and other factors. She crossed from the northbound lanes of the Parkway into the median and then crossed both southbound lanes of the Parkway.
Tyler’s car then struck a guardrail on the southbound shoulder. That caused her to cross back across both southbound lanes, the median and both northbound lanes. Her car finally came to rest on the shoulder of the northbound side of the Parkway.
Tyler and her son, 11-year-old Thomas Tyler, were removed from the car by Mayfield/Graves County EMS. Tonya Tyler was transported to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of her injuries. Thomas Tyler was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield for treatment of his injuries.
Further investigation into the collision led Graves County Sheriff’s Captain Jeremy Prince to charge Tyler with operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, driving under the influence second offense with aggravating circumstances, failure to produce an insurance card, failure to produce a registration receipt and wanton endangerment first degree. Tyler was cited into Graves District Court due to injuries she sustained in the crash.
