Two Marshall Wrecks Injure Two People Wednesday
By WestKyStar Staff
BENTON, KY - Two people were injured in separate collisions in Marshall County Wednesday, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Deputies say that 65-year-old Richard Thomasson of Hickory was traveling east on his motorcycle when a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Tamara Johnson of Benton was attempting to turn in front of him. This caused the motorcycle to strike the right side of her vehicle.

The collision occurred at 9:50 am on US Highway 68. After the accident, Thomasson was transported to Marshall County Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Deputies also responded to Patterson Ferry Road about 11:00 pm Wednesday, and learned that 19-year-old Alexander Dykes of Calvert City and 16-year-old James Cavanah of Hardin were driving south when they collided.

Dykes said he was unfamiliar with the road, and failed to negotiate a sharp curve. His vehicle struck a ditch and embankment. Cavanah was following too closely and struck the rear of Dykes' vehicle when it stopped.

Marshall County EMS took a passenger in Dykes' vehicle to Marshall County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
