According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, complaints about an ongoing phone scam have been received. Someone claiming to be from Medicare calls and says that the person will be sent a new Medicare card, but the caller will need all personal information to " confirm". The Sheriff's Office wants everyone to be aware that Medicare DOES NOT call and ask information such as this.
They also report complaints of calls claiming to be from law enforcement, saying there is a warrant for the person receiving the call, and the caller needs a credit card to take the bail money. Again, the Sheriff's Office stresses that Law Enforcement agencies NEVER make calls like this.
They advise that if any of these calls are answered, hang up immediately, and notify local law enforcement.
