A shooting in Carlisle County at approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday night has claimed one life, and left another in critical condition.

According to Kentucky State Police, the shooting occurred about three and a half miles north of Bardwell inside a home.

An investigation found that 42-year-old Harold Doug Compton, of Grand Rivers, was shot by the homeowner, 30-year-old Matthew K. Turnbow, of Bardwell. Compton was airlifted to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He is listed in fair, but stable condition.

Turnbow also shot, and killed, 52-year-old Kelly D. Clanahan, of Barlow.

Troopers say an altercation took place inside the home of Turnbow, who fired a shotgun, striking both Clanahan and Compton.

An autopsy was performed Sunday on Clanahan, and preliminary results indicate she died of a gunshot wound.

Turnbow was arrested, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was served an arrest warrant for violation of a Kentucky, EPO/DVO. He was lodged in the Ballard County Jail.

State Police say the results of their investigation will be presented to a Grand Jury.
