Women on MSU Track Team Hurt in Bus Wreck
By Bill Hughes
MURRAY, KY - Members of the Murray State University women's track team were slightly injured Friday morning in a bus accident.

The accident happened just before 11:00 am on Interstate 69 in southern Indiana as part of the team traveled to Bloomington for a two-day competition. The bus apparently slid off the road when it hit a patch of ice and rolled onto its side.

MSU Media Relations Intern Kevin DeVries said nine women were on the bus, and the rest of the 17-woman team has plans to leave Friday evening or early Saturday. He said nobody was seriously hurt, but two women were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Director of Athletic Allen Ward issued a statement on an MSU website, and said, "“My first concern is for the student-athletes and coaches involved. I'm pleased to learn that no serious injuries occurred as a result of this accident.”

The team is still expected to compete as planned this weekend.
