According to the Marshall County
Sheriff's Office, a deputy was sitting stationary running radar in
the work zone at the Purchase Parkway/ I-24 interchange when he observed a vehicle traveling north at a high rate of speed that was
confirmed by radar. The deputy activated his lights and
siren and the vehicle began to flee.
The vehicle continued
traveling north on Industrial Parkway, passing several vehicles in no
passing zones, over hill crests and curves. The vehicle failed to
stop at several stop signs and traffic lights and the
deputy’s patrol vehicle sustained some damage during the pursuit.
The driver, 30-year-old Keith A. Wallace of Murray, was arrested and charged with operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license, fleeing or evading police, speeding 24 mph over the limit in a work zone, disregarding a stop sign, disregarding a traffic light, reckless driving, improper passing, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and driving on a DUI-suspended license.
He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
