Wickliffe Man Charged with Promoting Contraband

BALLARD COUNTY - A Wickliffe man was arrested Monday on a Ballard County indictment warrant for promoting contraband.

According to the Ballard County Sheriff's Department, 24-year-old Eric D. Shelton, Jr., was being booked into the Ballard County Jail when he allegedly pulled out a small bag that had a crystal-like substance and attempted to hide it under a counter. The baggie was recovered by a Deputy Jailer, who notified the sheriff's department.

Shelton was charged with 1st degree promoting contraband, possession of a control substance (methamphetamine), and tampering with physical evidence. He was being held on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine when the contraband was discovered.
