Winter Weather Advisory Until 9 AM
By National Weather Service
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 2 am to 9 am Friday for western Kentucky and southeast Missouri.

Freezing rain -- mainly light -- and possibly sleet are forecast to develop late tonight and continue through early to mid-morning Friday.

A glaze of ice and possibly minor accumulation of sleet may result in very hazardous travel conditions during the morning commute to work and school.

Some area roads have already been treated. However since the precipitation will start mostly as liquid and at night, hazardous conditions may still develop,
especially on bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads.

Sidewalks, steps and other walkways may become very slick and hazardous as well.

Temperatures will rise rapidly to above freezing through midday, and early morning wintry precipitation will melt.

In northwest Tennessee, a freezing rain advisory has been issued until 9am.  Less than a tenth of an inch of ice may accumulate, but could still cause hazardous conditions on untreated roads and other surfaces.
