A Florida woman was arrested after an investigation into thefts from vehicles in Murray.

On July 26, officers with the Murray Police Department were called to Central Park after a report of a vehicle break-in.

On July 27 they began an investigation into fraudulent activity on someone's bank account. Through their investigation, officers learned that the individual had also been a victim of a vehicle break-in while in another city.

The investigation soon evolved into a multi-agency investigation involving victims in cities across Kentucky and Tennessee.

On August 4, Murray officers responded to another call involving fraudulent activity on a bank account.

This led detectives to a suspect, 44-year-old Amanda Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but she fled the area. A short time later she was located by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee and was arrested. She is currently awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

Lewis is charged with second degree forgery, second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, identity theft, first degree fleeing or evading, theft of a registration plate, speeding over 26 mph, driving recklessly, and failure to signal.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Murray Calloway County Crimestoppers at 270-753-9500.
