Woman Hurt When Car Leaves Highway, Overturns

WEST VIOLA, KY - A Graves County woman was trapped in her car early Saturday morning when her it left the road and overturned.

Kentucky State Police say that 71-year-old Ernestine Lamm of Mayfield was driving south on U.S. Highway 45 when the accident happened, and her car left the right side of the road. It traveled down an embankment and through a rock-filled ditch before overturning. Lamm had to be extricated from the vehicle by Graves County EMS. She was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

One southbound lane of Highway 45 was closed for about an hour while Lamm was assisted and the car was removed. Graves County Sheriff's Department and West Viola Fire Department also responded to the scene.
