MAYFIELD, KY - The Graves County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a man on Friday night, and a woman at the scene has been arrested.
The sheriff's department responded about 11:40 pm to a home on Dorothy Lane just north of Mayfield, after a woman called to say a man was bleeding. When deputies and EMS arrived they found 57-year-old James Pinion on the kitchen floor. He was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment, but died a short time later from his injuries.
An autopsy was performed over the weekend and the preliminary reports show that the
cause of death was sharp force trauma to the chest. Police said Pinion
suffered a knife wound to his upper chest.
Deputies arrested a woman at the scene Friday night when their investigation uncovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Thirty-seven year-old Tammy Roberts of Mayfield was taken to the Graves County Jail on possession charges. The Sheriff's Department did not say if she was the only other person in the home or if she is the person of interest in the case.
The Graves County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the case..
