Woman Leaves Crash Scene with Three Small Kids

BENTON, KY - A Benton woman was arrested after she left the scene of an accident and crossed a busy four-lane highway with three small children.
Deputies from Marshall County Sheriff's Department were called to the intersection of Union Hill Road and KY Highway 402 because of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, there was nobody near the car, so the deputy went to the home of the vehicle's registered owner.
Investigation determined that 29-year-old Shauna Harper of Benton was driving the car and had three small children with her when the accident occurred. Harper left the scene and walked across Highway 641 with her three smalll kids to get back home. Deputies also learned that Harper had been drinking prior to the accident.
Harper was arrested and taken to Marshall County Detention Center. She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance, operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and wanton endangerment 2nd degree.
