Women in Telecom Golf Event September 13
By WestKyStar Staff
MURRAY, KY - Murray State University’s Program of Distinction in Telecommunications Systems Management (TSM) will host its annual AT&T Women in Telecom Golf Day on Sept. 13 at MSU’s Miller Memorial Golf Course. Registration begins at 8:30 am, golfing begins at 9 am. This is a one-of-a-kind event in the region and was developed specifically for women in the telecom industry.
The golfing activities are designed for women who do and do not know how to golf to come together for a day of networking and fun. AT&T has sponsored the event the past few years and continues its support this time.
A $50 donation is asked from each participant to help fund the AT&T Women in Telecom Scholarship that is awarded to select women entering the Murray State TSM program each school year. MSU female faculty, staff and students can participate in the day at no charge.
The Center for TSM suggests that companies become a golf-hole sponsor with a $175 donation to the scholarship fund, which will allow four women from the company to participate in the days’ activities. Companies wishing to sponsor door prizes for the golf contests or promotional items for the grab bags should contact Amber Harris at email@example.com or (270) 809-3987.
The day’s activities will include a morning of basic golf instruction with Velvet Milkman, MSU women’s golf coach, and Will Snodgrass, director of Miller Memorial Golf Course. Also, lunch is sponsored by AT&T with two female guest speakers from the telecom industry, and golf contests with prizes and a nine-hole golf scramble will be featured in the afternoon. Any professional woman who is interested is encouraged to participate. Golf clubs will be provided, if needed.
